A tragic shooting incident near Stockwell Tube station in south London has left a 16-year-old boy dead, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire on Paradise Road at approximately 14:30 GMT on Tuesday. Despite emergency efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are currently working to identify the victim and notify his family, while no arrests have been made so far.
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron expressed his condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are with the young boy's family at this devastating time." He acknowledged the severity of the situation, calling it an "enormously shocking incident" that would likely cause deep distress within the local community.
Law enforcement officers remain on-site, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Vauxhall Camberwell Green MP Florence Eshalomi also addressed the tragedy, calling it "a life wasted" and expressing her sorrow over the loss of a young life.
A police cordon remains in place, along with road closures, as investigations continue. This marks the third homicide in London this year involving a victim under the age of 25.
